Omdöme från tidigare gäster:Date of review: Apr 26, 2011
I wanted a hotel room to myself for part of my stay at an apartment in Paris with friends. I found Inter Hotel du Vieux Saule. Great price, rooms were beautiful including LED lighting in the shower spigot, The rooms were very modern, the lobby looks great, and everyone was very helpful. The rooms were typical size for inner Paris, the bed was new and comfy.

This is a good choice for a well-located 3-star hotel with an excellent location near the Marais. It has no obvious drawbacks at all, and it appears as though they are steadily renovating the place.

Pleasant surprises:

It is not right next to the Metro, but it is about equidistant from four stations offering access to (I think) 6 lines, which is a plus.

It is quiet--not to be taken for granted in Paris.

Decor for the public areas is very smart and new.

There is a sauna and whirlpool (!).

Breakfast buffet is surprisingly good: They have cheese, meats, yogurts, breads, pastries, cereal, and even fresh eggs. Excellent coffee.

Service was pleasant (though Parisian--don't expect warm fuzzies).

Free WiFi!

Minor drawbacks:

Our room had not been redone yet--others clearly had. Still, it was fine.

Biggest turn-off: Towels were greyish and smelled of mildew every day. I have know idea what they were doing to wash them, but it wasn't working well at all!

Room Tip: Rooms in the front are bright but still quiet.

As I arrived at the hotel, it was apparent that the renovations in the lobby were not yet completed. It seems like they are almost done, though, and all work was being quietly completed. The 1 person elevator is about the smallest I have ever seen and if you have big baggage, you might just have to send it on the elevator alone and take the stairs to retrieve it. The hallway after you get out of the elevator is on the same scale and I can imagine a normal sized person might just scrape both sides of the hallway on their way to the room. However, I was pleasantly surprised that the size of the room wasn't as shockingly small as the elevator and hallway had prepared me, or maybe it just seemed a good size by comparison. The room looked as expected as shown in the photos, recently renovated, but sadly with tiger print carpeting. I was upgraded upon arrival from a single room to a double deluxe, which was a perfect size for 1 person and bigger than the double room I had last year at the Caron de Beaumarchais. The only complaints I have are the lack of space in the bathroom to hang towels or put your toiletries, the traffic noise from Rue Bretagne, and the rather old heater/air conditioner that seemed to be only a heater even when it was turned off. I found the hotel to be a good choice, though, perfectly located near many metro stations and walking distance to plenty of boutiques and cafes. The price was very fair in comparison to comparable hotels in the area, and if the prices don't go up after the renovation in the lobby is completed, I would stay there again.
